Conceived as a temporary event by Mondo Arc this formed one in a series of key buildings within the pool of London to be lit during February 2007 to coincide with the lighting fair ARC 07. The City Hall scheme was intrinsic to the event, being as it is one of the most significant civic buildings in London.
A major challenge was in convincing the Mayor of London to approve the event, as the GLA were just implementing their environmental initiative of switching off unnecessary lighting to office buildings. We demonstrated that by using low-energy sources including fluorescent and LED products that the overall power consumption was less than switching off on floor of lobby downlights. The overall event received a lot of positive attention and we are already involved with another site for the ARC event in February 2008.
