East Street restaurant in London’s West End is a vibrant Asian cooking experience offering healthy food at good value for money. The interior
concept was to re-create a busy street cooking environment, deliberately brash and bright. Light Bureau’s response borrowed from street cuisine influences, avoiding subtlety and producing quite high ambient light levels over seating areas. Cool white fluorescent sources were specified at the front of the restaurant in the fast daytime setting. Deeper in the restaurant where the setting is more relaxed and diners stay longer, warm fluorescent sources and some incandescent reflector lamps in recycled pendant shades are used. All fluorescent sources were specified as high colour rendering CRI>90. Light boxes are suspended randomly – their colour adds to the eclectic street market feel.
